Information, not advice

Everything here is general information for travelers leaving the US. It is not legal advice, financial or investment advice, immigration or visa advice, tax advice, insurance advice, or veterinary advice, and using this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind. Your situation has details we cannot know: your passport, your bank, your card, your pet, your dates, your circumstances. Where the stakes are high, a qualified professional or the official body is the right source, not a website.

We check and date, and rules still change

Every guide shows the month it was last checked, and the fees most likely to move carry their own checked date beside the number. We check figures against primary sources: the government department, tax authority, central bank or official operator that actually sets the fee. Our methodology page explains how that works.

Even so, rules move without notice, exchange rates drift daily, and a figure that was right when we checked it can be wrong by the time you read it. We do not promise that everything here is current, complete or free of error. Treat our numbers as a well-researched starting point, and confirm anything that would cost you money or stop you boarding with the official source. We link those sources on every guide for exactly this reason.

The calculator is an estimate, not a quote

The cost calculator on each guide, and the comparison pages, produce our own estimates built from stated assumptions. They are there to help you plan and compare, not to quote a price. Your real trip will differ. Every assumption is spelled out under the total so you can see what the number is made of and change it.

If you spot something wrong

Tell us. When we get a detail wrong we correct it against the primary source, note what changed in that guide, and update the checked date. Write to privacy@truetripcosts.com. We would rather hear about a mistake and fix it than leave it standing.

Affiliate links and the products we point to

Some links on this site earn us a commission if you buy through them. Those are labeled "we may earn a commission" every time, and the ones that earn us nothing are labeled too, so you always know which is which. The price is the same to you either way. We only suggest something when it genuinely saves money or trouble, and when the honest answer is that you do not need anything, we say so.

We are not the seller. Products and services are provided by the companies behind them, on their terms, and any purchase is a contract between you and them. We do not control their pricing, their coverage, their small print or their service, and we are not responsible for it. Read the policy or the quote before you buy, especially for insurance, where what is covered and what is excluded is the whole point.

We link to government pages, official operators and other outside sites. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or what they do with your data. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.
