Georgia made travel insurance mandatory for tourists
From 1 January 2026, Georgia requires every foreign tourist to hold travel insurance covering the whole stay, with at least 30,000 GEL (about 11,000 dollars) of medical and accident cover, under Decree 602. Most standard US policies qualify.
Why it matters: Carry proof in English, since border officers can ask for it and travelers without it can be turned away or fined about 300 GEL. Buy a policy before you fly.
