Jamaica: we corrected how we described the hotel tax rise
We previously wrote about the tourism GCT rate rise in a way that read as if it had already happened. It has not: the rate on a hotel bill today is still 10%. The legislated rise to the standard 15% takes effect 1 April 2027, phased in, and the hotel industry is contesting it.
Why it matters: A trip before April 2027 is not paying the higher rate, so do not budget for it yet.
