Ireland cut restaurant VAT back to 9%

From 1 July 2026, Ireland cut the VAT on restaurant and cafe meals from 13.5% back to 9%. Hotels were left out, and there is still no nightly tourist tax, though Dublin and Galway are pushing for the power to introduce one.

Why it matters: Eating out in Ireland should ease a little, while the room itself costs what it did.
